The Pizza Pavilion
Elevating the Patrol Cooking Experience at Camp Bowman
The Vision
Camp Bowman is a patrol cooking camp. We believe the best way to teach leadership is through the Patrol Method.
The Pizza Pavilion creates a "destination event" that challenges patrols to move beyond basic camp stoves and master the art of wood-fired cooking.
A Multi-Purpose Asset
The Brick Oven
A permanent, professional-grade hearth for high-heat culinary skills.
Open-Air Pavilion
A sturdy structure serving as a storm shelter and inclement weather gathering spot.
The Campfire Ring
A inclement weather area for campfires that can be used when Campfire Hill cannot be used, ensuring program continuity.
The Operational Model
The Commissary
Provides all fresh food and ingredients.
The Quartermaster
Provides training, safety protocols, and necessary tools.
The Scouts
Prepare meals, cook, clean the area, and return tools.
A Signature Schedule
Opening Night
AKA Beans and weenies. A great way to start the week, the staff can leverage this central area to host the arriving scouts to camp.
Troop Pizza Night
One night per stay. A troop signs up to work as partols to prepare, cook, clean up, and eat pizzas of their own making.
Closing Morning
The space can be used by the final celebratory continental breakfast before the scouts depart from Camp Bowman.
Program Continuity
We ensure that the "heart of camp" never stops beating, regardless of the weather.
Weather-Proofed
Action Campfire
Rain no longer cancels the campfire or group fellowship.
Storm Safety
Shelter in Place
A designated, sturdy shelter for sudden severe weather shifts.
Project Investment
Build a Legacy
The Hearth Honor
Naming rights for the Brick Oven or the Pavilion for major contributors.
Enduring Impact
A gift that serves thousands of scouts for generations to come.
